The Vibe

East Town — encompassing Downtown East and Elliot Park — is one of Minneapolis’s fastest-changing neighborhoods, transformed by the arrival of US Bank Stadium and a wave of new mixed-use development along the light rail Green Line corridor. The neighborhood sits just east of downtown, bordered by the Mississippi River to the north and the University of Minnesota to the east, giving residents easy access to both the urban core and the riverfront. It’s a neighborhood in transition: older residential blocks and social service institutions sit alongside new market-rate towers and stadium-adjacent retail.

Transit access is exceptional — the Blue and Green Lines both stop at U.S. Bank Stadium Station in the neighborhood, with Government Plaza Station one stop west. The Minneapolis Skyway extends into parts of East Town, providing covered pedestrian access to downtown. Buyers here tend to be drawn by lower price points relative to the North Loop or Mill District, strong transit connectivity, and the long-term upside of a neighborhood still in the early stages of its transformation.
