801 Washington
Unique live-work spacesIn a previous life, 801 Washington was home to a number of industrial and commercial tenants. In the early 2000s, it was converted into a 61-unit loft building -— one of the first of its kind in the area.
As a true loft conversion, 801 Washington houses some of the most unique live-work spaces in the neighborhood. Open interiors, rich woodwork and vaulted ceilings are just a few of the many charming details.
801 Washington also functions as a private art gallery. The works of local and national artists are displayed throughout the year in the lobby’s three-story atrium. Residents are welcome to attend exclusive art openings several times a year.
NEIGHBORHOOD INVOLVEMENT
Each year the homeowners association organizes special events that include gallery openings and summer picnics to foster a sense of community within the building.
A TRUE WAREHOUSE CONVERSION
Built in 1913, this historic brick building was home to a farm implement factory, a Studebaker Packard showroom, Shafer Refrigeration, and most recently an antique dealer who used the space to showcase hard-to-find artifacts.
